Meet Matt Skinner
Founder, Consultant, and Visionary
Matt Skinner leads FORTIS Consulting, bringing nearly three decades of experience as a Head of School. Throughout his career, Matt has guided schools to consistent growth, raised over $50 million in support of their missions, and helped leaders gain clarity in both vision and strategy.
A Unique Skill Set
Before dedicating himself fully to Christian education, Matt served as a CPA, working with a variety of corporate and private clients. He later became an Executive Pastor, earned his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, and has served on multiple school boards. This breadth of experience—finance, ministry, leadership, governance—equips him to understand schools from every angle and serve as a trusted advisor.
A Strong Record of Leadership
Matt has successfully led both traditional and classical Christian schools of all sizes, from 135 to 850 students. His deep understanding of school finances, organizational dynamics, and his proven ability to raise resources, combined with his commitment to developing leaders, make him a dynamic consultant and passionate speaker.

A Journey of Faith and Leadership
On January 2, 1996, I stood before the faculty and staff of Bracken Christian School with no idea where God would lead me. Lacking any experience in education, I held fast to Matthew 6:33: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
That promise—and the charge from Joshua 1:9 to “be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”—has guided every step of the past 30 years. My first Board Chair, Les Daniel, presented me with the mesquite-wood engraving of that verse shown above—a daily reminder that still sits on my desk.
